The Westshore Princesses and Guides are dedicated to fostering a relationship between father and child in a friendly, fun environment. Our activities require participation by both father and child, giving you opportunities to share experiences, learn, and grow together.
We serve the communities of Rocky River, Fairview Park, North Olmsted, Westlake, Bay Village, Avon Lake, Avon, North Ridgeville, and Olmsted Falls. Children can join at any time but generally start around 5-6 years old (kindergarten or first grade). They can stay in the program as long as they are still having fun.
Father and child are placed in "Tribes" of 6-12 other pairs, using age, school attended and geographic location as a basis. Each "Tribe" can meet during the year to do activities, have fun, etc. The West Shore "Nation", which is the group of all the individual "Tribes", has events planned every month during the school year such as our Fall, Winter, and Spring camp-outs, bowling, skating, pinewood derby, holiday party, tobogganing, and many others. The camp-outs are held at local YMCA camps, sleeping is done in cabins, and the staff generally prepares most of the meals. Activities available at the camps include archery, crafts, wall climbing, skits, canoeing, hiking, and everybody's favorite, horseback riding.
There is only a yearly dues fee to join. No fund raisers, candy sales, etc. The low yearly dues pay for free events throughout the year, and costs to run the volunteer organization such as insurance, payment fees, supplies, etc. Camp outs and other major events are paid as you participate. Assistance is available for families in need.
These programs give you and your child a chance to enhance the one-on-one relationship with each other, at an age that can never be recaptured. Your child will be at an age when they are ready and willing to learn, and you can be right there to share in all the wonder and the joy.
